Helping You Choose the Right Fit for Your Player
Not sure which division is right for your child? Hereβs a quick breakdown of each division offered by Upper Kittitas County Youth Baseball & Softball Association, including age ranges, game format, and goals.
All division placements are based on your childβs league age (age as of May 1, 2025).
πΉ T-Ball (Ages 4β6) β Co-Ed

For brand new players just starting out

Hit off a tee, learn basic fielding and base running

No scorekeeping β focus is on fun and fundamentals

π Must be 4 years old by May 1, 2025 to participate
πΉ Rookies (Ages 6β8) β Co-Ed

Coach-pitch division using Rapid Baseball rules
-
Focused on building hitting confidence and defensive skills
-
Continuous batting order; 3 outs or 5 runs per inning

Great for players moving up from T-Ball or starting at age 6β8
πΉ Minors Baseball (Ages 8β10)

First level of player-pitch baseball

Umpired games, official scorekeeping, limited base stealing

Continued development of throwing, catching, and gameplay awareness

Player evaluations held in February to form balanced teams
πΉ Majors Baseball (Ages 10β12)

Competitive player-pitch with full Cal Ripken rules
-
Stealing, dropped third strikes, and infield fly rule in effect

Prepares players for middle school or tournament play

Includes possible interleague games and local travel

Tryout required for players moving up from Minors
πΉ Minors Softball (Ages 8β10)

Player-pitch softball with some coach assistance as needed

11" ball, no stealing home

Focus on pitching, catching, and building game confidence

Great for players progressing from T-Ball or new to softball
πΉ Majors Softball (Ages 10β12)

Competitive play with 12β ball and full softball rules

Stealing allowed, infield fly and dropped third strike apply

Emphasizes situational awareness, skill development, and sportsmanship

Prepares players for middle school and tournament softball

Tryout required for players moving up from Minors
