🧢 Rookies Division – Ages 6–8 (Co-Ed)

The UKCYBSA Rookies Division is a great next step for players who have completed T-Ball or are starting baseball or softball for the first time at age 6–8. This co-ed, coach-pitch division builds on basic fundamentals in a fun and encouraging environment.

⚾ Who Can Play?

• League Age: 6–8

• Open to boys and girls developing early game confidence and skills

• Ideal for:
  ✅ T-Ball graduates ready for the next level
  ✅ First-time players starting between ages 6–8

🔁 Move-Up Option:
If your player is excelling, they may be eligible to move up to Minors after completing two seasons in Rookies, with parent or coach recommendation.

🧢 What to Expect

The Rookies division focuses on coach-pitch games, giving players a better opportunity to hit and gain confidence at the plate while continuing to develop field awareness and teamwork.

⚡ Game Format – Rapid Baseball Rules

The Rookies Division uses a Rapid Baseball format to keep games fun, fast-paced, and developmentally appropriate.

Here’s what to expect:

• Coach-pitch for all batters (no tee)

• Each inning ends after three outs or five runs, whichever comes first

• No walks or strikeouts – players hit until they put the ball in play (max 5-6 pitches)

• Batters who don’t put the ball in play after the pitch limit may continue with tee if needed (optional per coach discretion)

• Continuous batting order – everyone bats each game regardless of field rotation

• Players rotate through multiple positions across the season

• No stealing or leading off

• Emphasis is on learning game flow, not competition – no official score is kept

📅 Schedule & Gear

• Games and practices are held at Roslyn Park or Memorial Park

• Expect 2–3 sessions per week (mix of games and practices)

• UKCYBSA provides team shirts and helmets

• Players must bring:
  ✅ Glove
  ✅ Athletic shoes or cleats (no metal)
  ✅ Water bottle
  ✅ Positive attitude!
