⚾ Majors Division – Ages 10–12

Competitive Player-Pitch Baseball | Cal Ripken Division | UKCYBSA

The UKCYBSA Majors Division is the final step in our core recreational baseball program. Designed for league age 10–12 players, Majors introduces full baseball rules and a higher level of play while maintaining a strong focus on sportsmanship, growth, and fun. This division prepares athletes for middle school, travel ball, and beyond.


 Who Can Play?

  • League Age: 10–12 (as of May 1, 2025)

  • Best suited for players with prior baseball experience

  • New players are welcome with appropriate skill level and readiness

  • Players moving up from Minors must attend a tryout


📝 Player Evaluations

All Majors players must attend a mandatory player evaluation at the end of February. This allows us to form balanced teams and ensure each athlete is placed in the right environment to develop and thrive.


🔑 Key Features

  • Pitching Distance: 50 feet

  • Base Paths: 70 feet

  • Ball Size: Official youth baseball (Cal Ripken standard)

  • Live player-pitch with full game rules

  • Stealing and lead-offs allowed

  • Dropped third strike and infield fly rule are in effect

  • Umpired games with standings tracked

  • Interleague play and travel to neighboring towns may be included

  • Increased competition while still emphasizing teamwork and learning


 Safety & Pitching Guidelines

  • Strict adherence to Babe Ruth League pitch count and rest rules

  • Coaches monitor players for signs of fatigue and overuse

  • Safety gear such as helmets and catcher’s gear must meet USA Baseball standards

  • Respect for umpires, teammates, and opponents is reinforced at every level


 Season Overview

  • Season Start: Early April

  • Season End: Early June

  • Schedule: 2–3 practices/games per week

  • Locations: Memorial Park, and Ellensburg


 Gear & Uniforms

Provided by UKCYBSA:

  • Team jersey

  • Batting helmet (loaner if needed)

Players must bring:

  • Baseball glove

  • Cleats (no metal) 

  • USA Baseball certified bat

  • Water bottle and game-ready mindset!


 What Players Will Learn

  • Game strategy, situational awareness, and leadership

  • Advanced baseball rules and field positioning

  • Confidence in high-pressure game moments

  • Team accountability and sportsmanship

  • Preparation for middle school or tournament-level baseball
