Following Cal Ripken / Babe Ruth League Guidelines
The Upper Kittitas County Youth Baseball & Softball Association (UKCYBSA) Baseball Division provides a competitive yet development-focused experience that follows official Cal Ripken Baseball guidelines under the Babe Ruth League. Our goal is to teach the game the right way while ensuring a fun and supportive environment for all players.
Players are placed in either Minors or Majors based on league age (age as of May 1, 2025), skill level, and evaluation.
πΉ Minors Baseball (Ages 8β10)
League Age: 8β10
This is typically the first introduction to player-pitch baseball and live game scenarios. Itβs structured to help young athletes gain confidence while learning key rules and teamwork.

Pitching Distance: 46 feet

Base Paths: 60 feet

Umpired games using Cal Ripken Minor League rules

Limited stealing (no stealing home)

Dropped third strike and infield fly rule do not apply

All players rotate through positions and play time is balanced

Score is kept, but development is prioritized over winning
π Player Evaluations:
All registered Minors players will attend a player evaluation in late February to help us form balanced and fair teams across the division.
πΉ Majors Baseball (Ages 10β12)
League Age: 10β12
Majors offers a competitive experience with full Cal Ripken rules and prepares players for middle school and travel baseball.

Lead-offs and stealing allowed

Games may include interleague play and local travel

Players are encouraged to learn positional roles and strategic play

Tryout required for any player moving up from Minors

All Majors players must participate in the end-of-February evaluation to ensure teams are evenly balanced and that players are placed appropriately.
