⚾ UKC Baseball Division – Minors & Majors

Following Cal Ripken / Babe Ruth League Guidelines

The Upper Kittitas County Youth Baseball & Softball Association (UKCYBSA) Baseball Division provides a competitive yet development-focused experience that follows official Cal Ripken Baseball guidelines under the Babe Ruth League. Our goal is to teach the game the right way while ensuring a fun and supportive environment for all players.

Players are placed in either Minors or Majors based on league age (age as of May 1, 2025), skill level, and evaluation.

πŸ”Ή Minors Baseball (Ages 8–10)

League Age: 8–10
This is typically the first introduction to player-pitch baseball and live game scenarios. It’s structured to help young athletes gain confidence while learning key rules and teamwork.

Key Features:

  • Pitching Distance: 46 feet

  • Base Paths: 60 feet

  • Umpired games using Cal Ripken Minor League rules

  • Limited stealing (no stealing home)

  • Dropped third strike and infield fly rule do not apply

  • All players rotate through positions and play time is balanced

  • Score is kept, but development is prioritized over winning

πŸ“ Player Evaluations:
All registered Minors players will attend a player evaluation in late February to help us form balanced and fair teams across the division.

πŸ”Ή Majors Baseball (Ages 10–12)

League Age: 10–12
Majors offers a competitive experience with full Cal Ripken rules and prepares players for middle school and travel baseball.

Key Features:

  • Pitching Distance: 50 feet

  • Base Paths: 70 feet

  • Lead-offs and stealing allowed

  • Dropped third strike and infield fly rules apply

  • Games may include interleague play and local travel

  • Players are encouraged to learn positional roles and strategic play

  • Tryout required for any player moving up from Minors

πŸ“ Player Evaluations:
All Majors players must participate in the end-of-February evaluation to ensure teams are evenly balanced and that players are placed appropriately.
